Sony HVR-HD1000U Digital High Definition HDV Camcorder? Im about to buy this camera, and for what Ive read, its really good, but I have one question. How do you transfer the videos I shoot with it, to my computer? It uses mini DV cassettes. Is there any special cable to transfer the video, or is there a universal method to do this? Any help with this will be appreciated.
Is the Sony HDR-SR10 40GB High Definition Handycam Camcorder a good buy? I have been researching HD video cameras and this seems like a good choice. What I was wondering, however, is this: would this camera be good for family/travel, short films, and editing? What I need is a camera that offers no video compression, which, as I understand, is what this camera offers. I would need the footage to be uploaded to my PC without losing any quality and then have it available to edit with my Sony Vegas 7.0. Also, if that is what this camera offers, is there any other camera that offers the same specifications, but for a more affordable price? Thanks for the help.
I'm looking 2 buy an inexpensive digital camcorder. Does high definition or AVCHD really make a difference? What I want to buy is a camcorder with at least x60 optical zoom, it doesn't matter whether its flash memory or HDD. I want something that is best for filming at night especially at concerts where it is dark. Something that can zoom in really well and clearly to the performer. And I also want to know whether it really makes a difference if ur just shooting amateur stuff like recordings from concerts to have a full high definition or AVCHD (sony & panasonic) camcorder? And btw what is the difference between optical and digital zoom? Like on the sony site it says this particular camera has an Optical / Digital Zoom of 60x / 2000x. What the heck does that mean? Thanks for your help!
Could anyone recommend a good Hard Drive High Definition Camcorder in the $800 range? I've read reviews on the Sony, JVC and Canon in this price range, and many people are commenting on a new video format that they are using that isn't compatible with a lot of editing software. I would like to be able to edit videos easily, so I'm not sure which would work the best for me. Thanks for your help!! By the way, I have Vista so I'd probably be using the editing software that it has???

Sony High Definition Camcorders? Hi. I am thinking of getting a new camcorder. The three im trying to decide on is the Sony HDR UX150, HDR-UX350V, and the HDR-UX550V. Which one is the best one to get? Which one is the smallest/lighest? I currently have a HDR-UX7 and its a little bit too big and bulky for me. I like the 550V because its hard drive is 240gb. Are there any other high definition, hard drive over 100 gb, sony camcorders?

Why can't I capture high definition? I have the Sony HDR-FX1 high-def camcorder and use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for my capture and editing application. I have also used a little of Sony Vegas 6. Neither application will recognize my camera as being high-definition. I use high-def tapes to record my footage on and when I use normal MiniDV tapes to capture, everything works just fine. I just can't capture high-def stuff. When attempt to use Adobe, I use the 1080i settings at 30fps, but it will say my camera is offline when the Firewire cable is firmly plugged into both the camera and computer. Any suggestions?

What computer should I get for HD video editing? I recently purchased Sony's HDR-HC1 high-definition camcorder, and I found out my current computer is way too slow for HD video editing. I want to purchase a brand new PC or Mac to get the job done (since my current PC is a 6-year-old 1Ghz Athlon dinosaur). Should I stay on PC platform, or should I switch to Mac? Either way, what is the spec of the computer I should get? I appreciate your sharing of your own experience!
Sony DCR-SR32, Camcorder? How long does the built in hard drive on the Sony DCR-SR32(standard definition) camcorder last at its highest resoloution? Still picture res' is 640x480 pixels, cam' has 30.0 GB of hardrive space. Also how long does the battery last when on constantly for a long time?(Preferably someone who has this popular camcorder) Also give me an overall opinion on it. As I'd rather not spend over £300. Thank you Batteries for camcorders are relatively cheap, but it's a nuisance that I'll likely have to buy batteries. If the memory is good I will likely purchase.( More answers please )

What do you know about High Definition camcorders? I Have a XBOX 360 w/ a new 120 GB harddrive, and a HD DVD player, and a HD Plasma TV. I am looking for a HD camcorder that I can record footage onto the harddrive, but also burn it onto HD DVD discs? Sony has a lot of good cameras, but they are obviously Blu-Ray, not HD DVD.

High definition camcorders vs. Mini DV cams? Well I am looking to buy a new camcorder. The one I have now is a Sony mini DV and it's about 8 years old and I would like to upgrade it. I have been looking at High definition camcorders but am unsure if I should buy one. I have a newer mac computer and I love editing videos and putting them on dvd. Will my mac G5 it's about 2 years old, be able to handle the HD stuff and burning it onto a dvd? Or should I just stick with the Mini DV's? See I have a HDTV but my parents don't and they like to watch the stuff I burn onto dvd's, so is that going to cause a problem? Thanks, I could use any advice.
Which camcorder technology would be best for creating internet broadcasted educational videos? I have a limited budget for a camera. $400-$700. I want to do educational videos that will be put on the internet. I plan to have some text, photos of documents, some green screen and some studio lit lectures: Basic stuff. The quality of the video for my web site will be better than You Tube, but not as high as standard DVD quality – something in between. It seems I get good value from a high quality MiniDV camcorder like the Panasonic PV-GS500 with exceptional video quality in standard definition. On the other hand, some low end High Definition camcorders from Sony or Canon also seem attractive. Which technology would be best for my purposes? And why?
Question about Canon and Sony Camcorders ? Hi everybody , I want to know which of these models of camcorders in better to buy . If you have any suggestion kindly let me know . 1- Canon XH-A1 ( High definition ) 2- Sony HDR-SR1 ( High definition ) Thank you in advance .
Will the new Sandisk 4 and 8GB High Definition memory stick pro duos work in any Sony camera? I'm confused about the "video" and looking for a simple, specific answer. I know that memory sticks in general are for Sony cameras specifically. But is it only for camcorders or will it work on still image cameras, as well? Generally, I know that the regular memory sticks are cheaper...but if I can get a really good deal on an 8GB high definition pro duo...will it work, yes or no? And note: That was supposed to say Sandisk 4 and 8GB High Definition Video Memory Stick Pro Duos. It specifically says 60 mins of video for the 4GB and 120 mins of video for the 8GB. But I'm simply wondering if it can be used for pictures, instead.

Does JVC model provide the HDV feature on par with Sony? Does the JVC model suitable for High Definition recording as comparable to SONY HDV?
Looking for that perfect Camcorder...help? I'm looking for a camcorder that's under $1000, can also take pictures, and can take still shots from video. I would like the camera to be at least 10 mega pixels. I'm looking for something like Sony's High Definition Handycam® Camcorder HDR-CX12. As I love the night shot and smile recognition feature. I was wondering if there's another camcorder out there that is just as good with similar features? Also if it helps I have a mac and use iMovie HD to edit so compatibility is a must. Any ideas on a camcorder thats perfect for me?
Camcorder to go for? Sony DCR SR300? Sony HDR SR1? Sony HDR SR5? Sony HDR SR7? I am planning to buy a camcorder with range not being an issue. I am looking with minimal manual control and heard Sony has best of the point-and-shoot camcorders. Also I would prefer HardDisk format. What amongst the above model would you suggest. I heard that high definition video is the latest in the market. Can someone help me deicde where SDR or HDR to opt for? Also are there any major difference between SR5 & SR7, apart from HDD capacity and still image resolution. As i already have a digital camera, I prefer this as video capturing device. Still image quality is not an criteria. Other than that, does SR5 and SR7 fall into same league in terms of video quality? Would really appreicate if someone can throw some light on it? Thanks in advance.

I really don't know anything about them. At this point, the only one I'm sure about is the Fuji, but I decided to ask just in case someone can suggest something even better. If someone wants to suggest something other than the ones I listed, please feel free to do so. I just want the absolute best quality I can get given the circumstances. Thanks in advance. I also wanted to add that price is not a problem. So don't hold back :p

How do you convert an .MTS file? Camcorder help needed!? I have a Sony Digital Camcorder, with a high-definition hard drive. I took a few video clips on it. On the camcorder itself, the clips show up in its "gallery" thing as seperate video clips. I have to take these clips, put them on the computer, and make a movie by stringing them all together in the proper order, and I thought I'd use Windows Movie Maker for that. But when I conncted the camcorder thing to the computer, the screen on the camcorder just says "connecting" but it doesn't ever say "connected" I waited a long time..but still! On the computer, I went to "My Computer" and opened up the icon that says "removable disk." All these weird files and things came up, but I couldn't open any of them! don't remenber exactly what was in there, but some names I remember that were on the folders were "STREAM" and a name with a bunch of letters. The main thing is, Windows couldn't open any of them. It ddn't recognize the program it was coming from. I went to the Sony site, other software sites to do this, I downloaded softwares and programs, and whatnot...but it's still not working! I was told that I need to open the MTS files. How do I do this? I have a Windows XP by the way. Thanks in advance! Please help, this is a school project that's due this week, monday! Plzzzzz...

Final word from techies? Final Word from Techies: A lot of confusion exits regarding video quality (resolution, performance and editing) with regards to format and definition. Below I have attempted to quantify these parameters with 1 being of most poor quality and 7 being the best top most quality. I have taken only consumer camcorders into considerations which are manufactured by JVC, Sony, Panasonic and cannon. The Grading is follows: Standard def: miniDV (3), DVD (2), HDD(1) 3CCD St Def: miniDV (5), DVD (4), HDD (3) High Definition: miniDV (7), DVD (5), HDD (4) Do you agree with my above analysis? Techies please give your final opinion and comments.

Sony HDR-HC3E and storage media? I'm considering a Sony HDR-HC3E camcorder, which uses HDV (Mini DV) to store video. If I want to save my videos in High Definition on a different media, am I restricted to using Bluray? Or is HDDVD-discs still an option as the storage media for my high.def. videos recorded on the HDR-HC3E?
Which Computer for Video Editing? I have a Sony HDR-HC1E (High Definition) camcorder and am looking to get a new laptop/desktop for video editing. I'm not fussed if it's a PC or a Mac but it obviously needs to be able to handle the demands and I don't want to break the bank too much.
Canon HG10 vs Sony HDR-SR5? Hey Experts Kindly help me to choose the best High Definition Camcorder with Harddisk. Most of the purpose would be indoor, to capture my son's activities. I can go upto $1000. Would appreciate if any current users of either Sony or Canon inform thier issues or recommend any of the above mentioned models. Canon HG10 seems to be a good bet. Both have 40GB /10X optical / Image stabilization. Thankyou Naveen
Sony HDR-SR1 camcorder: .m2ts to MPEG-2? When I convert an AVCHD .m2ts file to an MPEG-2 file via Sony's Picture Motion Browser software, I notice that the converted MPEG-2 file is ridden with subtle horizontal lines. It is very obviously no longer in High Definition. How can I fix this? Am I missing a codec? The horizontal lines don't affect the quality of the picture too much, but they are definitely noticeable on the edges of the objects being filmed. And yes, I do have an HD monitor.
Canon HV30 or Sony HDR SR12E? Which Camcorder Is Overall Better And Would Be A Better Purchase In Your Opinion? http://www.sony.co.uk/product/hdd-avchd-hard-disk-drive/hdr-sr12e http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/product_finder/camcorders/high_definition_hd/hv30/index.asp
Is razzphoto.com or photodynasty.com reliable? I am looking to purchase a High Definition camcorder for a reasonable price. I have narrowed my choices down to a Sony HDR-HC9 and a Canon HV30. Both of these cameras retail for higher than $900 normally, and I found the Sony HDR-HC9 for $399 on a website called photodynasty.com, and $408 on a razzphoto.com. Is this just an extremely good deal, or really too good to be true? Also any good information about either of these cameras would be greatly appreciated, as well as insight about these websites.
What comcorder should I get that is perfect for youtube? I used my parents High Definition camcorder for 2 of my videos and the quality isnt good because I couldnt figure out the format converting stuff. So all I want is a camcorder where no coversion is needed so it can go from camcorder to Sony Vegas to Youtube. Try not to exceed over $1000 because im only in 10th grade. Thanks! I know how to upload to youtube heres my account aSaltedChocolateBar and as you can see from my vids the quality is not as good as alot of vids on youtube.

Here's a picture of it. http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8668/8668998_ra.jpg I want this for the hard drive so I can upload the videos into my PC. I usually make youtube videos and record some family events. or do you think i should get an Aiptek HD camera since its high definition. but I had an Aiptek before and it didn't record well in the light when it was dark out.
