Why have all the American news stations been infiltrated with gossip? I remember a time when television news actually talked about significant world events. Now, when I turn on CNN (I don't even give Fox a chance), I see news stories about Michael Jackson (who has been dead for over a year, mind you), John Edwards, or worthless reality TV stars no one (other than 13-year-old girls) cares about. My life should be a reality tv show.....? Okay for the past few years I've had some pretty random and weird things happen to me. 1.) This one time i went to walmart and there was this less fortunate guy sitting on of the benches outside the store he asked me for change and I said i'd be right back. Well ya'll Auburn has replaced Ole Miss for Reality TV show. Do you agree this was a smart choice? Apparently, Houston Nutt has come to his senses about the reality TV show that would have covered every move of the Ole Miss Rebels this season. Instead, Ole Miss pulled out of the venture and Auburn will step in. Veteran Southeastern Conference writer Ray Melick, blogging for the Birmingham News, has a report on it, as well as an excellent theory on why Ole Miss decided not to do it: "Every Day" w as originally supposed to follow the Ole Miss football team. But as it got closer to the season Rebels' head coach Houston Nutt decided maybe letting the world see what goes on inside the program every week -- even if it is a highly sanitized version, approved by the administration and coaching staff -- wasn't such a good idea.There are high expectations for the Ole Miss program this year. The Rebels are generally considered a top 10 team and expected to contend for the Southeastern Conference title, at the least. If for any reason the season does not go as expected, if Nutt's team underperforms, then not only would there be a very visible record of what goes wrong but fans would undoubtedly point to the presence of TV cameras all over the complex as a major distraction. Auburn has no such expectations. What's the deal with blocking out license plate numbers on TV and the internet? Whenever you see people's cars on TV (not like fictional people, but news or reality tv) or posted on the internet for whatever reason, they always have their license plates censored. I get that it's so people don't see the plate number, but what's the point? People see it when they drive down the street anyway. People who have fully experienced both: How does US tv compare to British TV? I'm saying that the way that the school system expects every single student to do great at everything thrown at them is not at all realistic. Everything 4-Smoking, I don't really think it's a great idea, but, it's a personal choice. If someone wants to smoke, let them smoke. Just stay away from the fumes to avoid secondhand. I mean, I don't get the point of smoking menthols (they don't really have any effect on positive health, illusions, etc, etc) but it's the choice of an individual. where are the real news websites? cnn, msnbc, fox and all the other offered sites seem to be covering garbage! i'm looking for a site that is legitamate, accurate and honest. i don't care about celebrity gossip and the other worthlessly superficial tabloid trash that the media keeps throwing off as news worthy events and stories. i want to know what's going on in the world... not what's going on in paris hilton's world. the real world... not the artificial improvs of "reality tv" but, THE REAL WORLD! what's happening in IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, NORTH KOREA, ECT.. i mean, enough of the run around (lighter side) slot fillers. somebody has got to know what i'm talking about. please toss me a tip. is there any true journalists left out there who will inform and enlighten me?
