How to prepare that Graham dessert? I am planning to have that Graham dessert called "tira mi su" in that particular Philippine TV commercial. I wanna know the ingredients and the steps in preparing it. Thanks a lot. Enjoy the summer!!!
Does anyone remember this local TV commercial? I think it's from Duty Free or a banking company and it goes like this.. The people are trying to unite the islands by pulling ropes tied to one island. And when the islands get connected like puzzle pieces, the people come running to meet and embrace one another. And when everything is finished, a big island was formed in the shape of the red and blue section of the Philippine flag. The song playing in the background says "Mabuhay ka". So what do you guys think about it? please discuss your thoughts. I can't find it at youtube.
Does they still air the Holiday, Seiko wallet and King Sue commercials? I remember way back in the mid 90s, after the mid-morning chinese programs on sunday Philippine TV, I would see these really wierd, poorly directed, low budget, poorly acted commercials of HOLIDAY corned beef and King Sue ham. One of the commercial has a supermarket-clown in it, singing "What can we say? HO - LI - DAY !!!". That clown was responsible for half my nightmares well into early adulthood. And how about that Holiday commercial wherein a boy was dreaming he was in a supermarket and his mom wouldn't let him buy Holiday corned beef? It was aired right after or before the Seiko wallet commercial. you know this one right? Seiko, seiko wallet Ang wallet na masuwerte Balat nito ay geeee-nuine International pa ang mga design And wallet na masuwerte Seiko, seiko WALLET! That was a minor error. DOES ---> DO they still.......

where do I go to audition for pinoy tv shows, commercials, or movies? I just turned 18 my father is Filipino born in the Philippines my mother is an American. I've been told I have a good chance at becoming a star in the Philippines. I live in the U.S. but every timee I go to the Philippines people always ask me if I'm a pinoy celebrity, they say I look like one I even had one lady tell me I look like Sam Milby ( I disagree). I would like for a change to be able to tell them "yes" but I just don't know how to start an acting career. Anyone know where to start
filipino TV show with a hot guy & has the word princess in it? i was watching a filipino channel yesterday (i live in the states) and there was a commercial for a TV series with a really cute looking filipino dressed up as robin hood or some sort of medieval character. the show's name has the word 'princess' in it and i can't recall what it is
Why do men in the Philippines pay more attention to Mestiza Filipinas? And they get so damn serious with them and so proud of them when they got one? Is there something wrong with being a so Pinay-looking one and I only see Mestizas on TV (Commercials models and celebrities) Why are the beauty of Filipino looking Filipino actresses like Kaye Abad, jennylyn and the others so understated when in fact, they are so beautiful to me... When I ask people about their standards of a beautiful actress, I seem to be the only person left to believe that the said actresses are beautiful. And it any contest or reality-TV thing, the mestizos and mestizas get the best votes from viewers. What's up with them? I mean... "and IN any contest or reality -TV thing (not it).. .." Sorry for the typo... I got your point, APlus, but you didn't answer my q... Thanks, Rev R for the good response. To SSangyong, hmmn, thanks too for going for Kaye but you didn't answer my q...
ABOUT PHILIPPINE POLITICS, PLEASE HELP!!! Can you please explain everything about this? If a Senator resigned, will the Governor replace him/her? If yes, who will replace the Governor, the Vice/Lieutenant-Governor? if yes, who will replace the Vice/Lieutenant-Governor? And, do we really have a LAW that would not allow the candidates to convince the people through television shows because the law of the land requires them to advertise themselves through TV commercials/campaigning? Last question.. I'd like to change a law, someone told me that i must submit a BILL passing through all the Senate Members and Congress and ask for the approval.. Is that right?
What is the Philippine commercial I'm thinking of? Help!? This is an add on the TV. It's all in Tagalog. At school, a young teenage couple is walking together, holding hands. The girl does not stop talking and talking, people are looking at them. The guy, who has glasses, lets go of the girl's hand suddenly, and says something about a "break" and "tayo". The girl, and everybody else, gasps and people start buzzing with gossip. Then, the guy gets out some chocolate and makes the girl eat it, and she loves the taste. Then they hold hands again or something. I think the name of the chocolate had the word BREAK in it. I need help to remember this commercial! I don't watch tv, I just saw this while I was at the gym. Please help? Thanks! Salamat!
Can you please help me in this homework. It's easy for you but hard for me? The word of honor (palabra de honor) is a very important part of the Filipino Value System that's why it has been part directly or indirectly of some commercials and movie line, Filipino proverb and quotations among others. Please give an example of popular FIlipino quotes and sayings, and dialogs lines from commercials, TV sitcom and movies.
Do I have a photographic memory? My parents told me that when I was about 4 or something, I memorized the whole album of this Philippine singer called Jolina Magdangal just by listening to the whole thing about 3 times. Also they say I memorize TV commercials and everything they say in it. And like just like a few days ago, my dad recieved a CD of this band called the cascades and plays it on the car, after listening to it a few times, I memorized the whole thing. Do I have a photographic memory?
did you know that the philippines is practically a haven for Americans/Brits and anyone who can speak English? i was amazed when i visited the country. try visiting the philippines and you can see that virtually everything in public places is in English. all the malls and establishments are in English, the local dailies and newspapers are in english, the official language of instruction in schools is English (thats why i think half the population of south korea emmigrated to the phils) phone operators and receptionists answer you in english almost all of their websites are in english billboards and shops are in english and ae mostly franchises of US brands (they recently discovered krispy kreme) and oddly, TV commercials feature caucasians more than filipinos (i think it has something to do with their colonial mentality, and having been colonized by the US a century back.) the best thing is, $1 = 46 pesos. $1 can buy you arounda small serving of a burger, fries and soda. if you know english in the phils, people find you respectable and educated. has any1 else realized this?
What is the name of the painting of the "sad young bishop" portrait in the Boysen Decore commercial / advert? The large painting seems like a portrait of some bishop or priest donning a miter with a sad, serene face and sad, beautiful gaze. It is one of the paintings supposedly removed from the Boysen Decore tv advert / commercial. The ad appeared couple years ago and stil somewhat still shown today in Philippine tv. I really want to know the providence of the painting maybe (hopefully) purchase [a reproduction of] it someday? Until this day that mystery painting is still on my mind... my own Mona Lisa perhaps...
If there's such a place as a museum for Philippine cinema and television, will you visit it? the museum will comprise of library and archive of filipino movies and television shows, exhibits for movie and tv memorabilia, an exhibit on the process of tv and filmmaking, a filipino version of Hollywood's walk of fame and madame tussaud's wax museum. It will also have state-of-the-art movie theatres (for public and private screening of commercial and indie movies), workshop center (for filmmaking and acting), and shops for filmmaking gadgets. i'm trying to make it more interesting to the public by not focusing on old film and tv stuff only. I want it to be significant to the present and future state of philippine cinema and tv. By the way, this is my architectural thesis proposal.

Was Manny Villar ever really poor? Was Manny Villar really ever poor? AS I WRECK THIS CHAIR By William M. Esposo (The Philippine Star) Updated February 07, 2010 12:00 AM “Nakaligo ka na ba sa dagat ng basura? (Have you bathed in a sea of garbage?)” is the opening line of the jingle of Nacionalista Party presidential candidate Manny Villar which is featured in a television commercial that attempts to project him as having been one of the poorest of the poor. But was Manny Villar really one of the poorest of the poor as what his advertising has been projecting? A Chair Wrecker reader from Tondo who claimed to know the Villar family when they still resided there debunked that notion of Villar ever having been poor. This information was relayed to yours truly via our response email address. The former Villar family Tondo neighbor cited reference points to support his assertion that Manny Villar was never really poor — including the claim that Villar’s father used to have a “nikaladong (stainless steel clad)” private Jeep. During the 1950s, a nikaladong private Jeep is a status symbol in Tondo, definitely not the hallmark of a poor household. Considering how Manny Villar has been dodging the serious issues pertaining to his use of public office in order to add immense benefits and profits to his businesses, your Chair Wrecker decided to do some investigating. Guess what Manny Villar’s online bio revealed: “Manuel Villar Jr. was born on December 13, 1949 in Tondo, a densely populated district of Manila. He was the second of nine children of Manuel Villar Sr., a government employee, and Curita Bamba, a seafood dealer. As a young boy, he helped his mother sell fish, crabs, and shrimp in Divisoria to help earn money to pay for his education. Villar finished his education at Holy Child Catholic School in 1962, and finished his high school education at Mapua Institute of Technology in 1966. He attended the University of the Philippines-Diliman and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1970. He returned to the same school to earn his master’s degree in business administration in 1973.” In the early 1950s, the rich lived in the big compounds in Ermita and Pasay and what was called New Manila in Quezon City. In Tondo, you found the middle class and the poor as well. Former president Joseph Estrada also claims roots in Tondo but his family was never poor. Based on his online bio, Villar cannot really justify calling himself poor. The Villar Tondo home, as shown on his 2009 TV commercials, was made of sturdy materials. It has lasted to this day. His father was employed while his mother operated a fish, crab and shrimp dealership in lucrative Divisoria Market. It may not be Class AB household income but it is definitely not Class E. Proof that the Villar children were never really wanting is the fact that Manny Villar studied in private schools. The indigent kids went to public school. Enrolling one’s child in a private school is a middle class value and option. The indigent kids who do manage to finish high school would tend to immediately learn a craft in order to be able to earn money right away. Aspiring for a business administration master’s degree is not the usual post high school move of indigent kids. Villar narrated on his 2009 TV commercial, with Boy Abunda interviewing him, that as a young kid he thought that corned beef was soupy because that was how they used to prepare it at home. This, he claimed, was their way to ensure that everybody had a share. But the fact is that there are really two ways to cook canned corned beef. One is the dry sautéed type while the other is the soupy type where you can add potatoes and cabbage. Both the rich and the middle class enjoy corned beef both ways. Also, poor folks, especially a family of eleven, CANNOT AFFORD to eat canned corned beef. For a family of 11 to be eating corned beef confirms that the Villar family is anything but poor. That was the case then and more so now when the poor go hungry or manage to eat only one meal a day. Up to the 1980s, people from the provinces consider it a status symbol to be eating corned beef. That is why canned foodstuffs, especially corned beef, are being displayed in the sala by many households in the provinces for these to be seen by visitors. For Manny Villar to don this facade of being “poor” once upon a time just to gain political advantage should make every Filipino voter ponder as to what else he would be willing to do just to attain his objective. Wisdom from a cherished honest man Tomorrow, our family will mark the death anniversaries of our Dad and Mom who both died on the same date, four years apart. Mom passed away on February 8, 1966 while Dad passed away on February 8, 1970. Our Dad was the most honest person we knew. During the era of President Elpidio Quirino, a close friend and former classmate of Dad, an opportunity was given to Dad to make a cool P200,000 — a fortune th

Why do most Filipinos claim they are Spanish? Ive been browsing on questions about the Philippines culture and heritage on YA,and i keep seeing Filipinos saying false statements, like all of them are mixed with Spanish,American,Japanese, and that they shared the look/and are Hispanic people.Even here in the U.s, all the schools Ive been to, when it comes to the heritage,Cultural Topic,The majority of Filipinos Claim they are half Spanish,Yet i observe there Facial features, and find nothing near or close to a European/Spanish look nor Hispanic(100%looking Filipino).Just Because most of them have Spanish surnames,It doesn't mean all of them are descendants from the Spaniards.around 90% of the surnames were given to them by a book called the (Catálogo alfabético de apellidos) Filipinos share much close ties to the Malay race Culture(Indonesian,Malaysian etc),especially examining the Typical Filipino facial features its very similar to Indonesians and other Asians. There is even more Filipinos of Chinese descent than there are of Spanish descent,You can see alot of Chinese looking Filipinos(Chinos.) Upcourse Of 300 years of rule,There is a majority of Hispanic influence, especially the fact that most Filipinos are Roman Catholic ,the traditions,Celebrations and surnames Upcourse, SOME BASIC FACTS FOR FILIPINOS Only less than 3% have Spanish European Blood(Which includes Spanish,American,British, etc) Most Filipinos have Spanish Surnames... 90% was given to them when the Spaniards needed to setup the name system to develop the country..Traveling Town to Town,Villagers were lining up to pick a surname out of the book Book was called the (Catálogo alfabético de apellidos,) Its very easy to distinguish Hispanics from Filipinos... http://culturalcenter.boisestate.edu/organizations/oela/oela.jpg And very easy to mistake a Filipino to Thais,South-East Asian people etc ..http://www.southwestlife.com.au/images/trevorvine1.jpg Spanish people from (Spain) http://www.hector624.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/diada2.jpg Decided yet?If your Open minded, not ignorant and not trying to get a little fake exotic flavours flowing in the blood"then you can easily decide whom Filipinos identify more with" Dont get me wrong Im half Filipino/Half American myself, and i Love the Filipino ways,They are very kind, down to earth respectful people. Most Filipinos look a lot like eachother..But due to the mentality ,the public view is White skin is good, and you will see the Tv shows,Commercials and whitening skin products.I can say 90% of them are White skinned mixed looking Filipinas/Filipinos on the Television At the end of the day we are Filipinos (and nothing more)who take Pride in our culture, characteristics and way of life.
live in the Philippines or USA? what do you choose?? hi i am a 15 year old filipina and a very proud one of course! I would rather live in the philippines. who agrees with me? right now i live in california and these past days i have been home sick. I miss everything! the malls and shopping centers, tv shows, my family and relatives, even the way that it is always noisy out on the streets with all the jeepneys and tricycles at night when everyone is about to sleep. I even miss the commercials on TV there! its cuz i have directv and the commercials on TFC arent the same. It dosnt feel right. I feel like the Phils. is my home. Even my mom isn't happy here and i alredy feel sorry for her. and you noe us filipinos, family comes first for us. anyone relate? please share your stories with me if you like. Please help me. I dont know what to do anymore. i want to tell my mom that when we visit the philippines again, i want to go when we are going to live there forever because if i go and i know i'm going to leave soon anyway, i'm gonna miss it when i go back to CA and i'm just going to cry and cry when i leave. so shud i tell her? even if we got used to living here already? Please no rude comments. Don't make me even more sad than i already am :( here are some commercials that made me home sick. i am sure they will make you homesick too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BakdUmRH52c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPGmRa7KfyQ especially the shampoo commercials. i think they were funny because the hair is fake haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-GI6qWc1Vs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6uQoNvu2Kg i remember this when i went the last time. *sigh* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKEG1KLeV3Q I TOTALLY AGREE WITH GREEVY THOM. My mom always says "people from the phils. think its so nice in the US but they're wrong. ang lunkot lunkot dito (its so lonely here)". and we do like own land and properties there and rite now someone was interested in buying land and they are willing to pay about P10 million! and if we bring it here it will be only worth a little (my mom has to split the $ with my grandma and sisters) the problem is my mom won't realize that we could just live there with that money instead of spending it here!!
Sports in the Philippines? My gradma told me that baseball was actually popular back in World War II when the Americans were in the Philippines. But it doesn't seem to be the case these days and I don't think it will ever catch on. Filipinos LOVE basketball and like to compete internationally (especially in Asia). However, most Filipinos are pretty short compared to people from other countries. LOL....I can't imagine a 5'10" Filipino basketball player guarding 7'4" Yao Ming or trying to post up against Shaq in the paint. I mean if your tallest guy is 5' 10" how does he guard Shaq or Yao? *Do Filipinos have an interest in baseball? I mean you don't have to be physically imposing against your opponent. Plus its always hot in the Philippines sort of like Latin American countries. There are lots of successful baseball players from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panama. Most of which are 3rd world countries that have produced baseball player that are now millionaires. Also there are baseball players from Japan and Taiwan who are really really short and skinny (compared to US atheletes) that have made millions playing in the US. I think if Filipinos had as much passion for baseball that they do for basketball that they would actually be pretty good at it. Especially when you consider factors such as living in hot weather all year and the fact that you don't need size to play the sport. *Soccer is also popular around the world. I don't think you have to be physically imposing to play the sport. You don't need to spend a lot of money and buy a lot of equipment. Just need a ball to kick around. Some of the poorest countries have done really well in soccer. I've seen a couple of soccer commercials on TV but never really seen any real interest in soccer either. **I think we could forget about American Football.....Those are the biggest and fastest atheletes out there.... I think the average Pinoy would get killed if they were hit by Brian Urlacher or Shawn Merriman!!!!
