1. pros: high definition picture, 4 inch thick screens, brighter picture. cons: low contrast ration compared to the tube TV's, very expensive, very fragile(LCDs. don't buy LCD if you have young kids) www.craigslist.com www.ebay.com www.amazon.com
2. You can find really good deals on walmart.com. Hdtv's are smaller, have better pictures, and yes eventually the old tv's will be obsolete. Make sure you get one with a high contrast ratio, and a resolution of no less than 720p, and a ntsc/atsc tuner.
