Not necessarily. But many want to have the "latest technology" with them and so they go for it or some just get bored or have extra money and they just buy the HD TV. It all depends on how satisfied and content one is and it goes just not for a TV but any other material thing in this world.
In another year or so analog televisions wont work anymore-it's called progress by the industry -just like we went from tubes to transmitters now we go to hi-def.It's a way for the companys to make sure we spend money just to keep up with the times.
have you ever watched a high def tv? its crystal clear. it makes all tv watching, sports games and movies soo much better and clearer to watch, you can see every detail. is somebody jealous??

In the year 2009, the money-making industry is going to put the high definition television into place. I understand that you will have to buy a kit to make your present television compliant with this idea. I think that it is ridiculous.
