do you have to pay extra for cable with a high definition television?

- It depends on who is your cable provider. Time Warner and Comcast does not charge as far as I know if you have someone other than that it is possible.
- Comcast charges $5 a month for high definition service. It inlcudes a couple extra channels that you could not get with an over-the-air HDTV antenna.
- yes... but what my dad did was that he went to bestbuy and bought a high definition antenna and he installed it and all the television programs are in high definition. but we dont have capable :( its too expensive.
- Hi Kaleem, It costs $10 more a month in Chattanooga. I was in Walmart today and in the electronics department they had "Rabbit Ear" antennas for $14.95. I am just getting it set up but on my first shot the over the air looks better then my cable did. I can't drop cable because I depend on it for Internet but I can save $10 a month. Norm
- not for cablevision / optimum, here in nyc.. and i believe that TWC does the same for there customers in nyc..
- Depends on the provider. DirecTV charges $10 a month for HD channels. But remember you also have to buy or lease an HD receiver to watch them.
- Your cable package already includes HDTV channels most companies have about 20 total. The amount you get depends on your package--problem is that they won't work unless you rent 1 of their HDTV cable boxes which runs between $5-$12/m.
- It only costs extra if you get a HD digital cable box from your cable company.. If you install cable cards into your television or into a series 3 Tivo, then you will not have to pay anything extra because HD is included on all cable cards for free.
