is it true that existing television sets can be adapted to high definition?

  1. Yes, just replace the tube, the circuit board, tuner module, add a high def socket, it will cost about £3500.
  2. No, it is not. Some exisiting TV's can be altered into excepting digital TV, but not HD
  3. NO - but you can use a digital receiver box (digibox) to receive digital tv signals, so you don't have to get a new tv when they switch off the analog signal in the UK. You will still be able to see HD programmes on an old TV, but it will be at the best quality that your tv is capable of showing, which probably won't be as good as HD. But if your current TV has a good picture then no problem, you will get just a good picture as you currently get, HD or not!
  4. No. They're not capable of it.
