How high can high definition go?

How high can a high definition TV go? There's a limit right? Can't get more high definition than real life. I guess they can start to magnify an image to get higher and higher definition but what's the point?

  1. Hi-Definition is limited to the maufacturer and the technology. Definition is only limited by the technology we can produce. For example - we can print 600dpi but picture quality is only 300dpi. Why do we even use 600 dpi. Just in case you want to blow up the picture later on. There will not be any degrigation. For right now. HD has a limit to TV but filming in HD has no limits. We are now just waiting on Jumbotrons to catch up. (Not that we couldn't make a HD Jombotron, but we just don't produce them often becuase the cost.) Side notes: 1080I and 1080P show the same amount of pixels, P has better color matching technology All and all I understand what you are saying. The naked eye can only apprictiate so much Hi-Res imagery! But, undisputably a better grade of HD adds real value to live sports, action movies, and the adult film industry.
