  1. my choices are between the DVX100B and the Canon. They both are excellent cameras. The difference is really the lenses. It depends on what you like. The Canon's I find have a warmer look, a bit of a softer feel. The Panasonic has a great overall tone and really shows the colors for what they are, nice sharp edges and all. Also the Panasonic has 24p recording, but this is completely worthless unless you plan to print to actual film. Go to a camera store and see if you can test them both out. The GL2 is a bit smaller so its great for run-and-gun shooting. The DVX has a lot of versatility. It all depends on what you like.
  2. well the canon and panasonic are both standard def. it would depend on how much you are spending but i would probably buy the sony but in a mini dv option. however, what the canon and panasonic lack on definition they are both light years ahead on sound quality which is a big plus for me. ideally, get yourself a HVRA1P. http://www.sony.com.au/production/catalog/product.jsp?id=HVRA1P
