Final word from techies?

Final Word from Techies: A lot of confusion exits regarding video quality (resolution, performance and editing) with regards to format and definition. Below I have attempted to quantify these parameters with 1 being of most poor quality and 7 being the best top most quality. I have taken only consumer camcorders into considerations which are manufactured by JVC, Sony, Panasonic and cannon. The Grading is follows: Standard def: miniDV (3), DVD (2), HDD(1) 3CCD St Def: miniDV (5), DVD (4), HDD (3) High Definition: miniDV (7), DVD (5), HDD (4) Do you agree with my above analysis? Techies please give your final opinion and comments.

  1. I wouldn't necessarily say that HDD is worse than DVDs, but I think overall, I would totally agree. Obviously, there are exceptions, but I think this really is a good list. Thanks for sharing!
  2. Though I would not necessarily disagree with your technical analysis, I would point out that the biggest factors which affect the difference in "quality" of a video are not necessarily technical, but rather creative. One can make a more compelling video than the average using lesser equipment if he/she has a clear creative vision. WK
