  1. Enjoy the show?
  2. You have to purchase the local HD package through your cable company or sattelite and on top of that you have to purchase their HD-ready equipment like receiver and appropriate cords. You should definitely research more by calling the company to find out what they offer. DirecTv does a free upgrade and install on HD, and costs only 10 a month for their HD programming. On top of that, if you can get any channels VIA antenna like your local news stations you can get those in HD over the antenna. Additionally: If you can go with DirecTv I highly recommend it, they as of next month will have the most channels in HD of any company. Including large sports capabilities, and High Definition Discovery channels and more. They already have one discovery and a few other channels. LIke TNT-HD and a few HD only channels.
  3. you should enjoy it make some popcorn sit back and relax :)
  4. you have to pay for the hdtv service through your cable company. If you don't get the service it is not good for the tv since it is made for it.
  5. Are you really watching HDTV quiz below will help: http://www.myceknowhow.com/training.cfm?division=digitalTelevision&chapter=2&page=6&showLayout=1
  6. if you don't want to pay for the HD service (cable/satallite box) you are pretty much SOL, beginning in 2008 the FCC is requiring all tv broad casts be transmitted in HD. however you will need a canverter box, NOTE: cable companies say the have HD, but not all do, my local provider is not capable of transmitting HD programming, the are working on getting licienced to do so, which may be early 2008. the problem is, is that when they do, all new housing developements will be wired HD ready and the rest of us will have to wait to have our neighborhoods re-wired. Sattalite however, has no wires and they have the sattalites in place. and will have nearly 50 HD channels available now, and 200 HD channels online by 1/1/08, while cable companies currently hav less than 20 available, but just because they are available, it doesn't mean they are available in your neighbor hood. This is what I found out 3 months ago when I got my HD tv. and found this all out. I ended up with Direct, $ for $ it was the best deal with the most HD channels, good luck
  7. The free way to watch HD is to get a simple rabbit-ear antenna - most cities in the US broadcast digital channels and quite a bit of programming, usually primetime shows in HD. TO be able to use a rabbit ear antenna, your TV needs to have a HD tuner built into it (also known as an ATSC tuner). If your HDTV doesn't you need to buy an external tuner box in order to receive over-the-air digital (or HD broadcasts). Cable and Satellite providers also offer several HD channels or HD programming that you can view on your new TV. In 2009, all all over-the-air (i.e ones you watch using an antenna) broadcasts will switch to digital (though not necessarily HD).
