Why do toddlers and babies love to watch TV commercials?

I observed this to my nephews and nieces everytime I watch TV with them. They even know that it is TV commercial time.

1. I think it is because most of the tv commercials are colourful and they tend to be attracted to colours and moving objects.

3. my nephew which is 7 month, enjoys watching commercials as well. i think its because a commercial has more moving characters, colors and catchy voices in it compared to a drama or movie. Babies and young children are attracted to moving objects, bright colors and different kind of voices. So when i hear a first-time mommy or any other mothers brag about how their kids love watching commercials (as a sign of their high level of intelligence)...i roll my eyes (when they are not looking at me)....not to be rude, but its really 'old school'! Not something new to me.

5. Because they are colourful, loud and really different to normal boring TV programmes. I remember about a year ago I saw an advert about observing those yellow grid things, with the line "You have to be smart lah!". My baby cousin loved that one.
6. Most TV commercials are specially made for babies and children, in such a way as to be attractive for them- colours, sounds and music, so that they can then go to the parents to plead them to buy the products being advertised.
7. well, tv shows tend to emphasize more on talking, but commercials have colour and more movement, which makes the baby understand more

Hmm, other than the excitement that is brought by commercials (color, action, psychology), parents this days are both working (for financial reasons) and some even have double jobs (even triple also got) which makes less time with the kids. Hiring a maid can be expansive to some or either a really tiring and long process so what's the next best thing? The TV! And so kids are left with the TV nanny and more likely to get influenced by commercials. This also makes reading books not so popular anymore...because parents should be reading story books to them during this period.
9. i thought only happen with my cousin only..wow, people should make a research bout this.. my cousin will smile and sometime laugh when he watch Johnson Bedtime commercial.. PEACE =D

11. The colors are attracting their attantions and the songs and musics that easily can catch up their ears.. Babies are in learning stage.. it means your nephews and neices are in good hearing and eyesight and they are normal if they wont act like that then that would become a big problem that needs to find out.
12. my son like to watch tv commercials too.....maybe its becos of the colors & graphics
13. Because they have nothing to do and they watch TV 24/7 so they practically know when is commercial time :D
