Why is reality always bad news?
When you watch the news on TV, it's always BAD news, instead of GOOD news.
Public Comments
- news isn't reality. it's just a perception of events as told from a public broadcast system.
- You are answering your own question. It's reality.
- Thoes are two stupid answers above me. The reason is, people are fascinated by tragedy, we pass a car wreck and we just want to stop and look. If the news was nothing but upbeat feel good stories ratings would go in the toilet, this is proven everyday when you turn on the tv, if nice news sold then thats what they would report.
- Bad news, especially heart-wrenching disasters, attracts attention. Warm and fuzzy news, while equally true, and perhaps even more valuable from a psycological point of view, does not attract much attention. The stations need viewers so they can sell ad time, and make money, hence the proliferation of bad news.
