- the writers strike is over
- absolutely i am so glad someone agrees
- Except for sports, I have stopped watching tv.
- reality tv has been driving me mad since everybody started havin a show in '00
- Nah, about the only things I watch on TV are sports and "Mythbusters", anyway...although I do miss "Real Time with Bill Maher".
- News writers would be part of a journalist union, not a Hollywood script-writing union, but I don't get bored because I thought most of TV was crap anyway.
- im from the UK, we have the same problem over here, repeats and mindless programs for people who have no lifes. i cannot stand most of these programs, i choose to watch episodes on internet, much easier and less annoyin :D
- I stopped paying for cable years ago...and I'm not missing a thing! I use the money I save to rent movies and purchase books. Edit (Re:thumbs down): Wow...there must be a cable exec here...
- I'm not bothered by it. I should be, but I'm enjoying the break from the shows and the chance to catch up with stuff recorded on tivo and movies on cable and ::gasp:: I'm even reading a little.
- Its a good time for it. NFL playoffs. Australian Open Tennis. College Basketball. NBA basketball.
- There's sports, which I don't watch and some shows that still have pre filmed shows left that are still going, but for the most part it is repeats at this point. Also, I haven't heard anything about it being over.
- OMG ! You are so right, I'm going nuts. To make matters worse we don't have cable so I'm stuck on PBS watching a documentary on cows!
- News writers aren't in the same strike. Just the night talk show comedy writers. They want more royalties from the DVDs of Jay Leno-type shows. They are also in the right. I love the reference that the news writers are not reporting the facts, though. Sometimes it seems the news people are hired by the government directly.
- I have NEVER been a fan of tv anyway. The only thing that I watch on tv is sports and CNN. The rest is all a bunch of crap!!!
- TV is an insult to ones intelligents. So, really Who cares? I get all the information I need from my computer, If I want to watch a movie, the computer serves me just fine.
- As a person from the US, -Yes. -Unfortunately, if you call it that, yes. -Not Really. If anything, Sports and News is all that litters American TV (EEK!) No, the strike is still in progress.
- News writers are not members of the Screen Writers Guild. If the re-runs are driving you nuts, give up on the meaningless, mind numbing pablum of network sit-coms and most dramas. Read a book.
- I've never liked any of those reality television shows, they drove me nuts with the people drama and stupidity. I can't believe people care about that. Anyway, I like watching discovery channel Mythbusters and "how it's made" interesting shows. Still watch tv shows like heroes, prison break, and..well, used to watch journeyman, I kind of liked that show.
- One good thing about the writers strike and the lack of new programming is that I've discovered the power of YouTube! Who needs prime time when you have YouTube, Studio 6 and Channel 101 on the internet! Truth be told, I only miss three or four television series. And I can wait until the networks and studios give up and pay the writers what they're worth.
- not at all, I just spend more time on Yahoo! Answers!
- Not yet. My favorite show 30 Rock has been airing new episodes up until now. Family guy has been new, as well as the Simpsons. Also, The Sarah Conner Chronicles is on, which I loved last night. Also Celebrity Rehab is pretty awesome as well. But, I miss The Office very much. Oh yeah, on Wednesday the new season of Reno 911! begins.
- The writers strike is not over. This is a common mistake people are making because new episodes of TV shows are starting to show up. The reason this is happening is because those scripts were already written and paid for by the networks before the strike began. As far as I know, negotiations have not even begun. I think in the interests of the flim and television industry, the writers and big corporations need to start talking soon. It's not hurting the corps. or the already rich writers, its hurting everyone else. Tourism workers, stage hands, camera operators, special effects people, stuntmen....all these people are out of jobs until the writers decide to go back to work. If something doesn't happen soon, once all the shows finally do come back on they'll be lucky if we aren't all watching viral vids on the 'net instead.
- Yes. It is a waste of money. I tried to cancel my cable TV and got disconnected from Comcast 4 times. I don't know why that happened. But I am really thinking of just getting rid of my TV. There is nothing on. I don't have HBO, etc, so there is really no reason for me to even have a TV. I had cable so I could watch The Daily Show and Colbert Report but now that they are working while the writers are on strike, I don't want to disrespect the writers by watching. I think I will cancel my cable tomorrow.
