People who have fully experienced both: How does US tv compare to British TV?
I've always perceived American tv to be full of empty-minded crap that does little to challenge the mind, mostly consisting of reality tv and high-budget, low-quality drama like 24 as well as crappy sitcoms that appeal to the lowest common denominator. However I then see really good shows like Band of Brothers, ER, Frasier. Does American tv show things like David Attenborough style natural history programmes or risque comedies like Little Britain. Does it show much satire? Is the News coverage really as biased and ignorant of the rest of the world as people think it is? Are there ever many science shows like Horizon? Just curious really. I don't know why I have used capital letters all over the place like that. Please try to ignore my awful writing and focus on the content of my question.

- I love the British comedies!
- not really us tv, but canadian tv is full of us stuff so.. yeah it does have a lot of rubbish shows but remember they have a wider audience and a lot more terrestrial channels than us. i found canadian tv very annoying as they show the credits, then have an advert break at the start and end of every show plus they have very bad adverts too...but then again so do we! they do have terrestrial history and docu channels, but like all media around the world it is edited due to some other persons agenda so you never really know whhat the truth is.
- American TV is constantly int erupted by adverts, preventing you from ever getting really into a program or film. they gave us the Simpsons and Friends, however they also gave us brain numbing reality TV. British TV is being very influenced by the US-invented reality TV which is a shame because it used to be pretty good, now it is all about trying to become a 'celebrity' yes most US news coverage is very biased and when they say "world" they often mean just the US. ie World Weather is very often just US weather, which made me laugh, and then worry when i saw it! there is a lot of junk on US TV, a lot more junk than there is good stuff, and unfortunately is it becoming ever more present on UK TV, although to be honest i think it is becoming less popular, whereas in the US it has always been popular. UK comedy is much cleverer than most US comedy which is too in-your-face ie the jokes are very obvious and not funny. it is often just silly childish remarks which, backed up by canned-laughter, is insulting to my intelligence!
