Can the Playstation 3 system only be hooked up to High Definition Televisions?

I have a standard television (nothing fancy, it isn't a flat screen etc). I was told by someone else that it would only work on HDTV. Wasn't sure if I would need to get a new tv

1. it can be hooked up to pretty much any TV. Blu-ray movies will also work on a standard definition television as long as you have the player.
2. it is the same on both tvs but the graphics a re a little different otherwise it is fine
3. No. It can be hooked up to a normal 480i TV. As a matter of fact, the PS3 doesn't even come with HD cables. It only comes with the normal red, white, and yellow cables.
4. Nope, it can be used on any T.V. I have mine on a Standard Definition T.V. and it works perfectly ;)
5. it will work because it comes with the standard tv hook ups i had to go pay 80 for the hdmi and the hd hookups
