What are the possible effect of advertisements ( tv commercials ) to people in their every day life? ?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of tv commercials? Are they shaping people or are they imposing anything to us? Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this. 1. pros; advertise products and services we need, inform the general public con; advertise products and services we don't need, which leads to overspending, which leads to debt. Furthermore many commercials have sexual innuendos which children inevitably watch. Persuading people to change their minds, like the candidates for presidency; that's a perfect example of brainwashing and meaningless persuasion. Look at all those fast food commercials, makes people hungry, and they eventually gain weight. Those drug commercials create panic and psychosomatic symptoms in people, they see a commercial about diabetes, they have one symptom and think they have it too!
