How do you get High Definition on a computer?
Hi, I was planning to buy computer parts and have my friend built it for me but I want the computer to have HD 1080p graphics. Does this mean I would need a monitor that supports 1080p and also is there any specific computer parts I would need to make it HD? I am not sure if my question makes any sense. I dont really get how does High definition or 1080p works. Thanks for the help!

- All you need is a decent dual-core processor, 2GB RAM, and a 1080p monitor. However, if you want to game on it, then you need a good graphics card. Nice 22" 1080p monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009157 By the way: 720p is 1280x720.
- 1080p is 1920x1080 resolution, but anything close like 1900x1050 cannot be distinguished by the human eye. The standard monitor has a resolution of 720p. This is 1280x800, even though you would expect it to have 720 vertical resolution, it does not. You dont need a special graphics card, the newest integrated graphics are purposely built to be able to run 1080p, since thats a reasonable expectation when you buy a computer. If you like to play modern games, you will need a very very good card in order to play games at that resolution. Something in the range of $125-175 would be acceptable, but anything less would not be able to produce good graphics at such a resolution.
- by buying a high def graphics card and a monitor that will make use of it.
- It's more complicated than that... you will need a monitor with DVI input and a video card with DVI output and make sure that both video card and monitor are HDCP compatible (it will say in the specs)... otherwise it will not work for the play back of blu-ray movies for example. The monitor you buy will be 1920 x 1200 resolution and you will use software to play back movies.
