In Australia, why don't we have high definition television yet?
Every electrical dealer is selling 'High Definition' televisions here in Australia and yet we still don't have 'high definition' channels. I'm wondering if station like ABC HDTV and TDT HD are actually high definition and if so why are the other stations so slow to get on board.

- It might be one of population, although Australia is a large country it has a relatively small population therefore the market will not be so big for this product, you may have to wait until the technology is more commonplace and cheaper to use,it is available here in the UK but it is limited to a few channels, and also the price of HD tv's are still fairly high so it is slow to take off.
- For a start dont buy a HD tv just yet as they are mostly compatable for hd and regular tv so they dont really work that well the reason that there is not very much hd channels out there is because there is a low demand for high defintion so it is expensive to run a channel for it there is a schedual for mos countries to go completely high def but because there is differant broadcasting styles like pal and ntsc it may take some time for it all to go hd i belive that the uk is meant to go completly hd around 2016 as for austrailia it will likly be round that time that all stations pick up hd channels
- We certinally do have High-Definition channels available. All you need is a High-Definition Set Top Box and a HD tv. All the free-to-air channels are available in HD.
- Yes we do have HD TV signals, like many people know you need a HD set top box and HD ready TV and there you go. All channells have HD signals, just go to the right channell number eg. ch 70 for HD 7, ch 90 for HD 9, ch12 for HD 10. It may also depend on what time of the day and night when you may truly watch something in HD.
