do you need a high definition television to play the xbox 360 or ps3 in best quality ?

1. any hd tv is better for gaming than a tube tv. i personally use a 37 inch lcd vizio, and its pretty awesome.
2. i use a toshiba 62 inch plasma tv and have it connected to my 360 via HDMI and the quality is AMAZING
3. Of course, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games will look better in High-Definition. Most televisions on the market today are HD-capable. Look for a TV that supports at least 720p signals. Keep in mind that 1080p or "Full-HD" is not necessary and won't make a visible difference with a regular-sized television (42 inches or less). Also, most games on either gaming platform are not compatible with 1080p and will automatically display at 720p or 1080i. Be sure that the television you choose has enough HDMI inputs if you plan to use more than one device with that type of connector. As for the kind of TV, I would recommend a quality LCD television. Plasma is not recommended for gaming because static images like HUDs (health bars, status icons, etc) will leave a temporary or permanent imprint on the screen. To make a choice for the model that you want, read reviews from reliable websites, go to your local Best Buy and check out what they've got to offer and go for the one that suits your needs and looks best in your opinion.
4. yes, but you need a HDMI cable for BOTH consoles and the HDTV will need to be HDMI compatible (probably if its new)

6. well...of course you do need one but its not like very necessary to buy one high definition tv if you are a casual gamer, but if you're a hardcore games, to have fun the most you would need a high definition TV to get the most out of it. I have a 32" AWA LCD HDTV and it rocks! I would recommend you getting a SONY LCD HDTV that's the best one, if too expensive then Samsung, if that's too expensive then panasonic, if that's too expensive then LG, then propably....philips...idk the rest lol. But it is very improtant to buy a HDMI cable for gaming if you bought a HDTV, because if you dont use a HDMI cable, your tv will look like crap when you are using a 360 or ps3. HDMI cable improves the texture and picture quality by like 70x lol. hope this helped though
7. yes. they say lcd tv's are the best for gaming. It is a liquid crystal display. plasma tv's have a gas in them and can burn into the television window if they stay there along time. I have seen this playing madden and it's true.
8. dose not matter but a hd tv with 720p or higher would make grapics better for a system.
