- Make sure the mute box isn't ticked, if it is untick it, should work fine. to do this double click on the speaker at the bottom right corner. ps turn it down lol
- are your speakers plugged into the main tower? are they turned on? if not plugged in. there should be a 3.5mm jack/plug from the speakers that go into a matching size green port. turning them on would help. check the mute box is not ticked.
- make sure your speakers are plugged in correctly and turned on. if it still does not work maybe sound has been muted go to control panel and find sounds and audio devices and open it up and see if the volume has been muted.
- Thats your onboard sound card. You still have to plug speakers into the jack. On the back of your computer there should be a color coated green audio jack. Thats where you plug in speakers/headphones. Realtek high def audio is just the card in the computer that play sound, not speakers. On most machines there is also an audio headphone jack in the front of the computer.
- You would see an x on the speaker icon if it was muted. Is this a new pc? Just hooking up the speakers for the first time. The black cable goes into the green port for stereo. Try this ... hope i make is simple enough Click start double click control panel double click sound and audio devices click the audio tab and make sure it has a device specified for audio device if it doesn't you need to go into the device manager... but i'll save that for another post or if you give us an update and still need help. good luck
- Some of the most common problems are the speakers are not fully plugged in or plugged into the wrong hole, speakers are not turned on and/or volume on speaker is turned down, or speakers not plugged in or speaker is muted... On the rear of the computer, typically the speaker jack goes into a green colored hole. Make sure it is pushed in all the way and not just part way. Double click on the speaker icon in the system tray and make sure "wave" is not set to be muted and the volume isn't turned all the way down. Check also to see that the Master Volume is not muted. WAVE is what most audio from the system uses Most modern sound cards require you use amplified speakers. These have DC power adapters our a USB power that is a connector attached to the speaker cable in a "Y" affair. If you have some headphones, most newer computers have a headphone jack in the front of the computer you can test to see if the sounds are working. You can also plug them into the green jack at the rear of the computer instead of the speaker for testing. Then of course there could be driver issues you would see in the Device manager but I suspect that as not being the issue here. My Credentials http://www.crossloop.com/techzilla
