Is the tv show cops for real?

I am watching the show: "Cops." It seems real like it really happened and they arnt acting. Is this true? Are those real cops? Real criminals on live tv just like the news? This includes reality tv court shows like Judge Judy and Steve wilkos, are these real or just people role playing and acting?

3. It's real, usually they only show you one side though: the cops always catching the crook. There's alot more people who escape the police then you see on this show.

5. The show is real. Unfortunately too many Police Officers act stupid because of the camera. For them to yell at suspects and talk stupid talk to them only reflects adversely on themselves. Also when I see them shove a suspects head in the dirt with their knee on top makes me want to slap the crap out of them. Another thing I do not like to see is five to ten police officers pointing their pistols at a suspect on the ground with three police officers on top of the guy. Makes them look absolutely stupid.
