How do you avoid getting sucked in by the top of the TV Guide Channel?

For those of you with TV Guide channel, does anyone turn it on actually wanting to find out what's on a particular channel and end up watching the top commerical thing or whatever? How do you avoid that? I mean I really want to know what's on channel 32, but I keep getting sucked in by this unfair vortex of useless TV blather. (Which by the way, it is totally unfair the TV Guide Channel actually has shows on now and not just commercials and movie previews. Gossip shows, makeover shows, etc. Maybe I'm just getting old. Doesn't airing your own TV Show violate the concept of telling viewers what's on all the other channels?)

  1. upgrade to digital and hit the guide button...
  2. LOL! TV Guide has it's own magazine with articles as well, so this is along those same lines. I hate it when I have to sit thru the scroll more than once because I was distracted.
  3. No way out of it sweetheart just fight the vortex.
  4. Who wathches tv guide channel?
  5. tape a piece of paper over the top, that way you only see the channel descriptions
  6. Instead of waiting for channel 32 specifically, read outloud the things going on in all the channels. Since you are busy reading all the things from all the channels, you will not get sucked in by the commercials. I admit it's an idea that i just came up with while reading your question...but it might work...
  7. I use to love watching the TV Guide Channel. But it was my default channel if nothing else was one. I don't get it anymore, I got cheaper cable.
  8. It's not possible to avoid it
