What is the difference between high definition and high quality videos on youtube?

What is the difference between high definition and high quality videos on youtube? What are the advantages and disadcantages of each one? Which one do you think is better and why? I'm making a video that is mainly screencasting and pictures with music in the background, which format should i use to produce the best result?

  1. There's no difference in it. HQ = HD. The button in watching YouTube videos in high quality was 'HQ', now it's HD.
  2. HQ videos generally have a resolution of 640x360 pixels, which just happens to be exact size of YouTube's Flash player. HD is much better quality and is a different video format altogether, because it eats up a lot more file-size and bandwidth. In order to achieve HD, resolutions need to be at least 1280x720, or what's commonly referred to as 720p.
