Do you believe Television & Film could do better to advertise and broadcast ethical backgrounds?

Such as race, sexuality, gender and religious beliefs? Do you also think it is worth going in depth in such television programme's & films even though it may cause some discomfort to other viewers but yet give a well educated to those who choose to watch it. Please give reasons why? P.S This is for a report I am writing, I am not asking you to write it for me but I would like to give people's personal opinions. Thanks!
