My projection screen tv has horizontal lines and flickers until it warms up. What is wrong with it?

It seems that it is taking my tv longer and longer to warm up each day. The main screen on the tv and all of the inputs need to warm up for at least half an hour. The screen flickers until the tv is warmed up. The tv is a projection tv that is about 10 years old. Does anyone know what would cause the flipping of the screen and how much it would cost to fix it?

1. About $400.00 to repair the problem....Of course, I'd rather look at it FIRST, then quote a price.... And turn off the TV set....I WANT to see it failing, not working when I get there.
