  2. $800 is WAY more than you need for a top of the line 32" set. You could easily get in a top tier brand 37" set with that budget. $500 is more than enough at 32", maybe $600 if you want some of the advanced features. At 32" most consumer and guru HDTV guides will tell you that you don't need to spend extra on "advanced" features. The reason being is that you won't see the advantages of them at 32". So while they might bring some improved image quality, it won't be to a degree of what you'll pay for the features (bad bang for the buck). Some gamers though really feel the need to get the advanced features, even in smaller sets. I might concede looking for 120Hz if you're heavy into gaming or sports, but its still a bit overkill really. So basically, just stick with a good 720p 60Hz CCFL LCD from a good brand name and you should be in good shape. Look to Panasonic, Sony, and Samsung primarily. Those are your main 3 friends. But also keep an eye on Sharp, LG, and Toshiba. They are also very good manufacturers and should be considered. Ignore other brands, you're looking at 2nd tier brands then. LG 32LH40 1080p 120Hz (super overkill option) - $850 Best Buy, but only $674 Amazon LG 32LH20 720p 60Hz (good basic set) - $530 Best Buy, but only $444 Amazon Panasonic TC-L32X1 720p 60Hz - $600 Best Buy, only $380 Amazon Panasonic TC-L32G1 720p 120Hz - $485 Amazon (if you want the 120Hz for fast motion) Sony KDL-32L5000 720p 60Hz - $500 Best Buy, only $449 Amazon Sony KDL-32XBR9 1080p 120Hz - $599 Amazon (super overkill option, but nice price) Any of those would serve you really well. I think you could easily go with one of the more basic options like the Panasonic TC-L32X1 or Sony KDL-32L5000 and then use the saved money to buy a BluRay player. But I've put some of the advanced feature ones up there too if you are interested.
