Did everyone in the worlds television get switched from analogue to High definition?
On July 17 all of the televisions in America was switched from analogue to High Definition and we had to go out and buy a converter box and new antennas. If you are in another country I would like to know if yours got switched too. If you live in America I would like to know how you guys like the switch. Of course you all know i mean Digital right? Sorry I spased for a minute. ;)

- actually you mean digital...=)
- I'm in the USA and I wish we did all get free High Definition..WOW ! that would be great...free brand new TV....free new cable box...free HMI cables. Nothing is free...We did not get High Definition on July 17th. Wish we did. High Definition you have to pay for.
- I'm in the USA. I think the digital conversion was great. I get free high-definition service over the air. The government got several billion dollars by selling rights to some of the spectrum formerly used for analog broadcasts, and emergency-service agencies got some spectrum to use as well. What's not to like? (In my opinion.)
- You have your terms, and the process confused and wrong. What happened (in the USA generally) was TV stations switched from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting. In that process they established a digital transmitter a few years ago, and recently turned off their analog transmitters. TV viewers that receive TV from an antenna had to either get a converter box, digital TV, or a video recorder with a digital tuner, and sometimes a better antenna. No "television" got switched to HD really. Digital broadcasting just gives broadcasters the opportunity to broadcast a High Definition picture. As for other counties, what I know; The Netherlands turned off their analog transmitters at least three years ago. The UK is in the process of shutting down their analog. They are doing it by area. The freed analog channels will be used for more digital channels, some in HD. The digital system they have had running for quite a few years is only SD, although they broadcast a lot of wide screen content in SD In Canada (where I live) the situation is terrible. Right now, only the major cities have digital transmitters (some with HD), and the broadcasters only have to set up digital transmitters in certain major cities. Analog turn off date is 31, August 2011, for all major transmitters, including many outside of the cities currently mandated to go digital.
