Christmas without a television?

I have no television. I hate the things. The drivel that is pumped out is boring and banal. A friend took pity on me and gave me this huge set to watch. I switched it on, saw what rubbish was on over Christmas and promptly passed it on. I can guess what is happening. In the soaps, someone will be murdered/raped/have an affair/an affair will be discovered/Tony Blair will be revealed to be the anti Christ. Morecambe and Wise will be on. The Great Escape. Gordon Ramsey will stuff a turkey. In fact, someone will stuff it right inside the foul mouthed prat. I'm looking forward to a drivel free zone of peace and quiet and a good play on the radio. Anyone else doing the same?

  1. I like movies (not R rated though) and sports, I hate all other kind of TV shows except the old ones (classic shows from the 60'sd & 70's)!
  2. I am sure that the bible says that the baby Jesus had a television in the stable. A big 60 inch flat screen hooked up over the manger. I think it was a gift from one of the wise men..
  3. um over christmas ads or television overall? We've gone the last two years without television, we were happier and more productive. Now that we got it (my husband really wanted t.v.) we've become drones after our work days. I was seriously happy before I knew Jon and Kate existed.
  4. Quote "I'm looking forward to a drivel free zone of peace and quiet and a good play on the radio." So what are you doing on answers then?
  5. i love christmas tv! not all of it is depressing you know. mary poppins, oliver twist and miracle on 34th street are a must over the xmas season lol
  6. I have a television - I don't watch any soaps nor do I watch the news. I enjoy watching wildlife shows, 'old fashioned' comedies (Good life, porridge etc) and I enjoy the discovery channel..... not everything on TV is 'pumped out, boring and banal'. I also enjoy the occasional film. Anyway, everyone likes different things and if you enjoy not watching TV and you prefer listening to a good play on the radio, then enjoy it and Happy Christmas.
