Question for Indians.......?
We always feel sorry for the beggars on the street when we see children of the age of 5 or 6 going every nuke and corner asking for money from the passersby. Deep down our heart we make plans as to how these kids can be given a secure future. But in the midst of all these we fail to feel sorry for a class of people who equally deserve our pity. They are none other than those rich elite class of people who are never satisfied with even crores of money in their bank deposits. They often appear on Page Three. They throw lavish parties inviting all celebrities, politicians and big shots and of course they also come in limelight for brawls at these events. All this in the name of publicity. They keep adding properties to their portfolio. But within a week or so their efforts are challenged by some other person in their elite circle and thus the competition keeps going on and on. These people deserve our pity for their mindset. They deserve our pity for the fact that Greed is poverty in itself. When their conscience pricks them, they make some one-time charity but that too not without fame. Their lavish life sometimes causes them to run their vehicle over the poor people sleeping on the streets. They make a mockery of our judicial system by trying to buy the law of the land in an attempt to put a veil on their elite vices. They share all Notoriety for introducing pass times like Wife Swapping and Strip Tease to the Indian Culture and if they are questioned for these behaviors in talk shows on Television, they jump to their own defense saying that “It is 21st Century and that the West has already welcomed these things”. They would blatantly attack your cultural sensitivity by saying that you are narrow minded. Now judge for yourself. Don’t these people deserve our pity and sympathy for being guided by the misguided concepts of Modern Freedom? Dear Indians, what views would you like to share on this ?

- I am actually not getting what u r tring to ask!! Sorry
- First of all, why Indians? 2nd. the answer. No, we should not pity those who suffer due to their own mistakes. I dont pity the homeless who dropped out of high school because they prefer to smoke weed all day. I do however pity the homeless who lost everything due to natural disasters or accidents or etc. Rich people should figure out for themselves where true happiness is found instead of focusing on their greed more money and worldly possessions.
- oddly western society will not tolerate children living on the street, no matter how rich the rich are. I think India could learn some thing from that.
- Wtf- The poor needs to be pitied not the Greedy Rich people. A rich man's heart will never get satisfy.- That's his punishment from above. A poor man may be poor but he can live more happily than a rich man. That is his strength from above.
- ignore.don't waste time. satyam apriyam na bhruyath [don't say the truththat is not liked].do
- dear friend every one is alike, widen your views there is no clarity in your doubts - you saying - you Indians, rich people, poor people, beggars ? sympathy is not at all related to all the above things..its a human nature.. because a rich can be a spiritualist or a poor can be a egoistical.. vise verse .. an Indian can be the BOTH
- Your mind and thoughts are excellent brother. Yes, these people are living the most pitiable life. They can never express the peace and bliss which content and pure life gives. They are addicts, they are addicted to lust, fame and money. They are mere toys dancing to the tunes of hypocrisy. Although I pity their perversion, yet I am angry on them for bringing ruin on our Indian culture.
- are you saying that the two extremes of social class, the beggars and poor AND the richest elites deserve the same amount of sympathy/pity. no ways.neither the lowest class needs anybody's sympathy, if you can help the poor then help them because your sympathy alone will not be of any benefit to them. nor should we pity the rich fools. they use their money for what they think will make them happy. selfishness is not meant to be pitied. if they are honest and kind then may be your can respect them otherwise no much thought must be given to them..
- I'll share my experience, when i went to a Krishna temple, guruvayoor, i saw a small girl, about 7 yrs holding a small child, who is about 1-2yrs not more. in a small place she is begging to PPL, some were ignoring, i felt sorry to her, because i couldn't help her, i was helpless, i forgot to pray about me and my family, but i prayed about theses PPL, i searched in web about them, i added all photos to my favourites, but i pledged when i get a earn money i'll help them. pls see the images http://www.worldproutassembly.org/images/poverty_india11.jpg http://www.civicspace.in/files/u1/ppl2.jpg http://www.outlookindia.com/images/bangla_010827.jpg what can a girl do for this? if i was rich, i shall help them with my full mind. ur very thought full
- Who decides who should be pitied? Or rather what conditions are necessary for pity? We generally "pity" people who have no shoes on their feet, no money, no food, no clothes, no home, no friends, etc. Pity is compassion- compassion for fellow human beings. We should have compassion for all- because every human being is going through some struggle or the other, no matter who they are. ------------------------------ Matthew 7 Do Not Judge Others 1 "Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. 3 "And why worry about a speck in your friend's eye when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend, `Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,' when you can't see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye. 6 "Don't waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don't throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you. -------------- John 14 Jesus, the Way to the Father 1 "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. 2 There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. 4 And you know the way to where I am going." 5 "No, we don't know, Lord," Thomas said. "We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. 7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!" On the other hand, self-pity is never good, as it acts as a hindrance for a person to slog, struggle and achieve some progress in life. As an Indian, I would say, it is easy to judge others around us- because we can see others' faults more easily than our own. The moment we get some wisdom/insight about a situation, we start feeling superior about it. This is also vanity-it's called "pride" and it always comes before a fall... So let us observe and improve upon our own areas of weakness and by our example stand for the Truth- Jesus Christ came to redeem us and also to stand for the Truth -with Holy Wisdom and discretion.

- As a Muslim, I consider everyone as the Artwork of the Artist, the Almighty who made one and all. In my view some people are poor materially (the lucky ones.... ) others are poor in health, morality, education, spirituality, who are more pitable as you said. However, sometimes one chooses a certain direction without giving enough thought as all human beings should. Sometimes the company you keep herds you into situations that have bad consequences in the end. If one really stops and thinks a person does not need but one meal at a time, wears one set of clothes at a time and is in one room at a given time, as Ali (a.s.) said, having learnt it from the Prophet of Islam. Thus those who acquire more than their share, they are the usurpers and the takers and the Almighty may requite them for it in due time. Whereas those who are poor and have nothing to give, are in fact the lucky ones whose responsibilities are far less. Modern Freedom is a misnomer. It is like the freedom to fall off the roof of your house. When you choose certain "freedoms", you would find hurt, pain and suffering, whereas if you let the railing hold you back, you are saved from the consequences of certain freedoms. Those who want to enjoy the roof/terrace, without wanting to have the freedom to "FALL", they would enjoy life more. Let us work on our own selves, our families and friends, and then slowly see the whole World around us turn to a more humane, more accepting and more tolerant World where we all have the freedom to bear the consequences of our actions. I hope I am making sense. Thank you for asking the Question. Ali
