Why do men in the Philippines pay more attention to Mestiza Filipinas?

And they get so damn serious with them and so proud of them when they got one? Is there something wrong with being a so Pinay-looking one and I only see Mestizas on TV (Commercials models and celebrities) Why are the beauty of Filipino looking Filipino actresses like Kaye Abad, jennylyn and the others so understated when in fact, they are so beautiful to me... When I ask people about their standards of a beautiful actress, I seem to be the only person left to believe that the said actresses are beautiful. And it any contest or reality-TV thing, the mestizos and mestizas get the best votes from viewers. What's up with them? I mean... "and IN any contest or reality -TV thing (not it).. .." 1. that's how they define beauty. remember guys sometimes couldn't comprehend beyond what they see.
2. Because they are shallow. They judge beauty based on color. We can put this however we want but judging only by appearances is probably the most shallow thing a person can do. On the other hand, it has something to do with preferences. In the West, brown skin is sought after. They don't like pale skin. They said pale skin look unhealthy and they look like a ghost. They spend a lot of money going to tanning salons just to achieve the most coveted brown skin. They think it is exotic.
3. When you're in Philippines then yes that's what the majority thinks when we are talking about beauty but if you're living on a western country your beauty is considered as exotic or a goddess. LOL! It's just one of the common mistakes of human & cultural perceptions.
4. Colonial mentality. During Spanish times, being "indio" or native Filipino was like being on the lowest rung of society. Being fair would mean you have had some Spanish or foreign heritage, making you better off. It's still ingrained in our system that the fairer you are the better off you are financially and socially. I guess that added "value" make them seem harder to reach and, hence, beautiful in their eyes. The Spaniards' colonization of our islands really screwed us up.
5. okay..i'm a guy...and i'm gonna answer your question. and i'm sure kris aquino is part of mestiza too since she has chinese blood. how do you define beauty. it differs from people to people. I agree about that. some men or boys prefer chubby girls, some prefer skinny. some prefer "just fine" type. first u have to understand marketing. it's all about business. marketing is about taking advantage of what people perceive to be nice, beautiful, strong, and adorable. marketing is about exploiting what people wants. not needs. you dont need beatiful actress to have child. so forth. Why mestizas on tv? why mestizas on commercials? why mestizas men prefer. They are pretty diba? all of us will admit it. but u must understand in the end it's the majority opinion who will be taken care of. kaye abad is pretty. yes. sobrang ganda pero she doesnt have this appeal to the masses. if u ask people to choose between kristin hermosa and kaye abad what will be the majority? i'm not saying that kaye abad is less pretty because i prefer asian type, true asian faces like kaye but the majority will for sure vote for kristin. got my point? i prefer kaye. i'm unlike the majority of the philippines. i vote for people who are doing their jobs and have credibility, not for someone popular like the late fernando poe jr, joseph estrada or blah blah. young people wants BMW and EVO i prefer mercedes and ford mustang. people like basketball i play football. people listen to love fm i listen to light and easy. people fly cebu pacific i fly air asia. people wanted to go for american dream i earn my pera sa malaysia.people gave "let the love begin" the box office i adore sharon cuneta in "crying ladies". people spent their money on nice handphone i still use my nokia 3310 although i can afford better one. people call on smart i rely on globe. jollibee?? big mac taste better. people vote mestizas on tv show, reality show blah blah because they think normal. they are ordinary. it's typical. there's nothing to be proud of for being majority. i think in the end, people of the masses have so much to lose for being in the majority. it's the majority who makes the minority richer. it's the majority who will ended up being "ordinary" for the rest of their life. minority is unique. kaye abad is unique. pretty naman. life is all about choices.
6. Even though you say men in the Philippines I am assuming you are talking about Filipino men. But I hope you don't mind my putting in my 2 pesos worth of talk. As for myself, since I was first here in PI in 1973 I have always believed the following. 1. I am from America and I believe Asian women are the most beautiful in the world (I am 51 and never dated nor was I interested in a "white woman" just didn't attract me at all). and 2. I believe the Filipina is the most beautiful of all, (I consider Filipinos Asian). The dark skin, black hair, brown eyes and OH that Filipino nose, the more "native" the more beautiful. Now for me I also wonder why the Filipina who looks like this will spend every centavo for Whitening/bleaching Soaps and use clothes pins to pinch their nose into a point hoping it will stay that way? YOU ARE BLESSED. And I am blessed as my wife IS for sure Filipina.

9. Hello poh, ang pangalan ko si linda jean. Im a Mestiza filipina.. I live in australia and come 2 pinas 4months a year.. My bf Kim is a pinoy. In my opinion Philippines pays more attention to Mestiza because they look different, and its a big WOW factor in a country where natural colour tends to be dark brown. As with white countries where tanning is a never-ending trend.. In asia, Whitening is a daily routine to most Manila girls. As i walk around everyone tends to stare at me (which is quite annoying).. They call me KANA.. i'm everybody attention.. non-stop ask questions bout my backround and my country and they Get a cheap thrill from attempting their broken english to me.. I dont mind.. Coz its their excitement. When i was watching Wowowee .. [which i'v knowticed nearly every filipina is whiter than me].. (weird).. My maid told me white in pinas, makes people think ur rich. They think "thats a (city) manila girl.. (Most people in manila arent exposed to sun). When People see me sunbathing at the beach they ask me ''What are u doing??!!'' My boyfriend is one of those "faithfully pinoy" guys who dosent use whitening lotions.. and sabi ni kim "I like u not whitened not tanned just natural".. HOrrayy!! I dont know i this answers ur question! But i hope think kinda gives u an idea of a mestiza's view of the attention they get. Ok lang...

13. Filipinos and filipinas are obsessed with being with white people. All the pinays here in the states think they hit the jackpot if they get with a white guy, even if he's a jobless, toothless, redneck. Its a status symbol. If they get with fair looking people they can feel good about themselves. I know this because my GF is filipina and many of my friends are Filipinos. This is what I have noticed.

15. Well it's easy to frown on it, but the truth is that this is a part of the culture. There's no need to put it down. Every country or ethnic group has their own standard of beauty, their ideal, and it was formed too long ago. You need to see it through your cultural eyes, and not from the view of a different societal-type attitude. Philippines being a former Spanish colony during their big Spanish Empire from Philippines to Latina America, we all share this standard of beauty and taste. The cultures are too similar, it's latin hispanic. Mestizas are a part of our people, Filipino. I think it's going backwards to not count them as Filipino. That's called forgetting your culture. Remember, what is "pinay" looking really? We have a rich history. Pinoys and the pinoy look could be a tribe person to Gloria Romero. But what needs to be realized is that it is not just white rosy-skinned people that are beautiful but also the morena-mestizas/os (tanned with hispanic features) who make up a sizable part of the population, are beautiful, along with whiter complexion mestizas. There are beauties representing all types in the culture. The history, culture and roots is what makes up the people, and most of the result are beautiful people. But remember, even if it's a mestizo with a bad character, no manners and are antipatico, then they are not beautiful. Beauty is also determined by the attitude, character and ways of a person.
