live in the Philippines or USA?
what do you choose?? hi i am a 15 year old filipina and a very proud one of course! I would rather live in the philippines. who agrees with me? right now i live in california and these past days i have been home sick. I miss everything! the malls and shopping centers, tv shows, my family and relatives, even the way that it is always noisy out on the streets with all the jeepneys and tricycles at night when everyone is about to sleep. I even miss the commercials on TV there! its cuz i have directv and the commercials on TFC arent the same. It dosnt feel right. I feel like the Phils. is my home. Even my mom isn't happy here and i alredy feel sorry for her. and you noe us filipinos, family comes first for us. anyone relate? please share your stories with me if you like. Please help me. I dont know what to do anymore. i want to tell my mom that when we visit the philippines again, i want to go when we are going to live there forever because if i go and i know i'm going to leave soon anyway, i'm gonna miss it when i go back to CA and i'm just going to cry and cry when i leave. so shud i tell her? even if we got used to living here already? Please no rude comments. Don't make me even more sad than i already am :( here are some commercials that made me home sick. i am sure they will make you homesick too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BakdUmRH52c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPGmRa7KfyQ especially the shampoo commercials. i think they were funny because the hair is fake haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-GI6qWc1Vs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6uQoNvu2Kg i remember this when i went the last time. *sigh* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKEG1KLeV3Q I TOTALLY AGREE WITH GREEVY THOM. My mom always says "people from the phils. think its so nice in the US but they're wrong. ang lunkot lunkot dito (its so lonely here)". and we do like own land and properties there and rite now someone was interested in buying land and they are willing to pay about P10 million! and if we bring it here it will be only worth a little (my mom has to split the $ with my grandma and sisters) the problem is my mom won't realize that we could just live there with that money instead of spending it here!!

- YOUR UP IN HEAVEN,DON'T GO DOWN TO ....
- Philippines is greatthe last time I remember, but I haven't been there in 5 years. I emmigrated here from the Philippines when I was 8. At first, I didn't like America but I'm used to it. I am vacationing next summer break. I just reconnected to family there, through friendster, and I am so different from my cousins. I am a white- washed Filipino. I pick friends before family, use electronics whenever I can, I lost my accent:[, and I forgot the Philippine national anthem. The main thing that hasn't changed is eat my Filipino foods! I like the US better because I'm scared of going to the Philippines. I think it's to think of the Philippines as a vacation spot so you will never be bored of it. I am going to live there when I attend college.
- It is called being homesick. Everyone (immigrants and OFWs) feels the same way you do at one time or another. Well, it will just take a little getting used to. That's all. A lot of Yappers are abroad. This is the line back home.
- i miss the philippines...NOT ,the t.v. shows,jeeps,tricycles...NONE OF THOSE.....I JUST MISS MY LITTLE HOME....THE SMOOTH MID-DAY BREEZE...a bananacue...and pop cola...nodding and smiling with your neighbors...washing my old sturdy car....miss my mom..yelling at me.......IN the Philippines...i dont wear watch...I dont look at calendar....lottery draw is my calendar.... i love driving there.....the freedom....the relaxed atmosphere... JUST DONT LISTEN TO THE NEWS....AND BE CUT BY STUPID POLITICIANS VEHICLE CONVOY.... Anyway....CALIFORNIA IS A NICE ,WONDERFUL PLACE,..AS IF YOU WERE INSIDE A MOVIE SCREEN....LIVIN ON A DREAM....EXCELLENT PLACE TO HAVE A VACATION......its just.....for a ASKAL like me.....i miss my place....my home..... hopefully,...ill be home for christmas.......if i win the lottery...this homesick dog is gonna stay at home.....
- the problem: you're homesick. every immigrant goes through it the first few months--not just you. the cure: go out and make new friends, find new things to do. open your eyes and realize that you are actually better off in the u.s. than in the phils. because you have enough food to eat, medicine to cure you and a great free school system to educate yourself. there is a government which is obligated to care for you and generally a friendly society who isnt perpetually trying to badmouth or cheat you out of something you worked hard for. and heres the best part, in the usa you dont have to be a mestiza or come from an influential family to be treated like a human being. how can you better than that? you cant.
- give it time. you will adjust. you will always be homesick but it will not be grabe anymore later.
- My opinion is: if you can afford to go back in Philippines, like you have a business or source of income back there...Then why not? Bhuwisit is just partly right. California is great...If you have the job or you can afford to live there. California is a bankrupt US state, and there are hundreds of homeless Americans living in tent cities. Everybody has health care? You must be kidding Bhuwisit, right? it's tough time to live everywhere right now, including USA. There are 10 million Americans unemployed, so for every available job you will be facing tough competitions (hundreds or thousands). it's easy to get jobs at Walmart or McDonalds, but the 10 or less dollar pay per hour is not even enough to pay the rent, and its not permanent. I hear there are still a lot of Filipinos trying their luck in the US embassy applying for tourist visa in the hope they can go here and become TNTs. Are you kidding me? You want to get arrested and treated like terrorists by ICE, and sent back to Philippines shackled and handcuffed, blacklisted from USA permanently? It's not like you are one of those illegals in Mexico who can always cross the border anytime. So if you are homesick and you will not be losing a job or source of income...I think you are better off in Philippines. I think USA is a good place to visit for many Filipinos...But you will find living here quite alienating and not like the picture perfect scenario you always see on TV.
- How long have you been there? I do understand what you mean. Some would suggest to make friends, do something fun, go around...blah blah blah..., but there are really places that is just not "ME". If you've just been there, you can try hanging out a bit. You are still young, and would most likely depend on your folks decisions. But try to set a time frame. Then see for yourself if you could stay or go. Good luck!
- I agree with Greevy Thom!!! Things are really tough right now in the United States. It is not the country with all of the wonderful opportunities that it used to be. You do not get free health care, there are MILLIONS of unemployed people right now. The Gov't and media say unemplyment is around 10% but its actually closer to 20%. Yes....There are lots of homeless people living in "tent cities" with nowhere to go. The only way that life would be good in the Philippines would be if your parents are RICH and you don't have to worry about money. I don't see the Philippines being any better than the United States. I mean as bad as the US is right now, most people in the Philippines have it worse.
- ampon ka ng tatay ko. ako ampon ng nanay mo. palit tayo. I think I would like to live in california. dito ka sa bahay namin. ok?
- The Philippines is better, especially if you can make your money from the western world but live in the Philippines... Coming from Australia, having lived in the USA and now being in the Philippines, I know for sure the USA is not the best nation on earth, no matter how much it's citizens are brainwashed to think it is...
