Sony High Definition Camcorders?
Hi. I am thinking of getting a new camcorder. The three im trying to decide on is the Sony HDR UX150, HDR-UX350V, and the HDR-UX550V. Which one is the best one to get? Which one is the smallest/lighest? I currently have a HDR-UX7 and its a little bit too big and bulky for me. I like the 550V because its hard drive is 240gb. Are there any other high definition, hard drive over 100 gb, sony camcorders?

- I would never recommend a DVD based consumer grade camcorder to anyone - whether high definition or standard definition video. As well, given the known issues hard disc drive camcorders have with high vibration, high altitude and data recovery in the event of hard disc drive failure, justifying a HDD cam is pretty difficult in my mind. Flash memory (removable) and miniDV tape (preferred) are suggested. Since Sony has essentially abandoned miniDV tape in the consumer segment, that leaves flash memory. The HDR-CX500 series is basically the same as the XR500 series - just using different storage media. Since the battery in the box is the same, the flash memory record life is longer because there are fewer moving parts. The lenses, imaging chips and AVCHD compression are the same.
