Why have all the American news stations been infiltrated with gossip?

I remember a time when television news actually talked about significant world events. Now, when I turn on CNN (I don't even give Fox a chance), I see news stories about Michael Jackson (who has been dead for over a year, mind you), John Edwards, or worthless reality TV stars no one (other than 13-year-old girls) cares about. Wouldn't these stories be better suited on E! or TMZ? As a result of all this, I've started using the Internet for more focused, worthwhile news. What's your take on this? Dave: I completely agree.

1. Its all by design.. the corporations that are fleecing America want the masses to look at anything BUT what is going on...
2. dave87gn is right, all the non news items are there to distract you from all the dirty little secrets the goverment doesn't want the people to know about.its not just the u.s media that does this.
